Dental implants
Had to have a couple of teeth extracted recently and I'm getting fed up with the inconvenience of having gaps. The cost of implants in this country is outrageous so I'm wondering if anyone on here has been abroad for this kind of work and can advise. Popular places seem to be Budapest. Belgrade, Malta and Istanbul, but I wouldn't know where to begin.

'S' and 'T' were particularly difficult.
I sounded like daffy duck at times.

Although if you have this done you should be prepared to learn to speak properly again.
It took a few months to get back to normal.

Re: Dental implants
Im delighted with them.
Just wish I'd had it done yrs ago.

I never realised how uncomfortable the denture was until I didn't have it anymore. You just get used to them.

Yes, that's a typical situation. Got to be better than gaps or dentures, I would think...

Re: Dental implants
I paid for mine in stages too.
The work wasn't all done at the same time. The whole process from initial consultation to having the permamnent crown fitted was about 8 months.

I had a few appointments where different stages of the work was done. I just paid a bit after each surgery.

*CHL - don't know what kind of income you are on but if you think 1400 a pop is reasonable you must be living on a different planet to me.*

Yes, m8, I'm quite fortunate in that respect, I guess, plus my Mrs has me enrolled on NDP at her co, so that reimburses a good bit of it anyway, BUT as you can see, £1400 stands up well against some of the rip off figures people are being quoted, plus it's all done in the UK to UK standards. The reason other rip off dentists generally get away with it is VANITY i.e. doesn't matter how well you dress / speak / etc... if you open your mouth and it looks like Stonehenge, many people will immediately re-class you down to 'vagrant' standard! So the massive figures aren't based solely on the work required, they are partly based on the fact that the dentist KNOWS that 'missing teeth' is perceived as a social faux pas that you will want to address, even if it takes your last few quid. Robber barons.

Dentale (the co I mentioned earlier) also offer 12 months 0% finance for those who want the work done but don't have all the dosh up front.

Re: Dental implants
I had a couple done last year. Brighton Implants if anyone is interested. Coincidently I'm down there tomorrow for the 12 month check up.
It worked out about 3k for the two teeth.
I could have had it done for less abroad but I went for the peace of mind angle, that I'm only a couple of hours away from the surgery if anything went wrong.
Fuck having a problem and your surgeon is in India..

I'm well pleased with them. After wearing a denture for over 20 yrs the difference in comfort and hygeine is amazing. I wish I'd had them done yrs ago.
If you can afford it, do it.

Yes, I getcha. Usually if someone starts losing a lot in a hurry there's a gum problem, and that can mean big bucks due to grafts etc.

If you have 'several in a row' to be fitted, the average price can drop down considerably, as it is possible to fit them on, say, two 'posts' rather than individual posts.

You'll only know by consulting, m8.

Re: Dental implants
"Useless cunts ripped a back tooth out of me a few years back. Left half of it in. Went back and fine. Now it's back. Fuck it. Useless cunts."

"P - Yo! That's literally what i had this morning, the remnants of an old tooth out, the gum had grown over where they took the tooth out but a little bit left in kept growing!Had the cunt taken out this morning."

Same thing happened to me years ago after a wisdom tooth extraction. I felt a sharp shard of leftover tooth sticking out of my gum. I didn't clutch my handbag and run squealing to the dentist. I pulled it out myself. I expect this is because I am not a massive fairy.

Re: Dental implants
CHL. £1400 does seem OK for ONE implant. I'm nearly 50 and having had good dental health for most of my life all of a sudden most of my teeth decided they had had enough and started leaving.

Even at a measly £1400 per implant, the 12 implants I needed would have been £16,800.

In anyone's maths that's a lot of fucking money for a few teeth.

Yep. Good quality ones though, and that did include a few extractions and a couple of fillings too.
